Visual Inspection of welds can be performed using limited equipment; usually a welding gauge or fillet gauge and a torch, with photographic images if requested. The company inspect steel buildings, bridges, walkways, storage tanks, safety critical structures, ships, funfair rides and pipework.
Most structural steel is tested to BS EN ISO 17637, BS EN 970, AWS D1.1 or ASME V.
Visual Inspections are also carried out on materials, looking for process defects or damage.
The Companies Registered Welding Inspectors who hold P.C.N., C.S.W.I.P., I.I.W., or A.W.S. qualifications perform the examinations. Further test requirements may be fractures, hardness testing or macros examination with photographs.
