Positive Material Identification (PMI) or Alloy Verification (AV) identifies all ferrous and nickel based alloys including stainless steels, Monels, Inconels, Hastelloys, aluminium alloys, naval spec. alloys and exotic materials.
Having portable equipment means work can be performed both in-house or on-site, and due to its versatility, large fabrications down to small fasteners and fittings can be tested.
New alloy analysers have replaced the old style metascopes. Ultramags modern instruments use X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) which eliminates problems associated with isotopes, and potentially burning the surface of the part. Our instruments can cover a wide range of elemental analysis, plus new elements can be added and reports supplied direct from the instrument.
We can perform stock material identification and production verification on welded fabrications and metal sorting. We are also able to record light elements (LE) that are as accurate as a laboratory analysis.
Inspection reports can be issued listing many elements and we can also identify the material or product under test.
